A sculptural mug shaped through folds and curves, giving it an abstract form that could never really be repeated the same way again. The bronze glaze gives the whole piece the presence of aged metal, with subtle shifts across the surface that become more visible the closer you look. The handle forms an organic loop through the side, so you can slip a finger through it or simply hold the body of the mug in your hands. The form moves between thinner, sleeker sections and fuller curves, which makes it especially beautiful to hold, turn around and experience from different angles. It is fully glazed inside and functional, but I see this as sculpture first. The kind of mug that stays out on the kitchen shelf because it deserves to be seen even when it is not being used. Because of its sculptural form, I would consider it moderately drink safe rather than an everyday mug. There is also slight pinholing in parts of the glaze surface from the firing, which is part of this particular piece.
